Beginning Spanish
Level 1
An introduction to Spanish (sounds, greetings and goodbyes); gender and number of Spanish nouns; conjugations in the present tense (regular and irregular verbs); adjectives; the verbs to be (ser/estar) and to like (gustar); basic prepositions; basic vocabulary; conversation in the present tense; uses of Spanish in different contexts; expressions used in different parts of the Hispanic world.
Level 2
Idiomatic ways to express future actions (along with idiomatic expressions); irregular verbs in present indicative; direct-object pronouns; reflexive pronouns; demonstrative pronouns and adjectives; descriptive adjectives; reflexive pronouns and gerunds; introduction to narration. We also study preterite indicative (a past tense); expressions in the preterite using regular and irregular verbs; more prepositions and vocabulary.
Level 3
The imperfect indicative (descriptions in the past); indirect-object pronouns; introduction to the imperative tense; more prepositions (por and para and review); future and conditional tenses and their basic uses; present perfect conjugation (introduction to compound tenses); introduction to the imperative mood; review of the indicative mood; vocabulary.
